In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale including pictures from the, which included the work Still life with a lobster on a platter by William Somerville Shanks. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,400.00 (€ 14,958.36), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Somerville Shanks achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tiddley Winks in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 181,250.00 (€ 219,144.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Scottish Sale including pictures from the durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still life with a lobster on a platter von William Somerville Shanks zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.400,00 (€ 14.958,36) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Somerville Shanks erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tiddley Winks im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 181.250,00 (€ 219.144,87).
