Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental and Russian Pictures, which included the work Elegant Figures In A Woodland Clearing by William Somerville Shanks. The price achieved of GBP 480.00 (€ 712.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Somerville Shanks achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tiddley Winks in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 181,250.00 (€ 219,144.87).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 712,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Somerville Shanks erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tiddley Winks im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 181.250,00 (€ 219.144,87).
