In November 2011 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work Meteor by William Smith Ronald. The result of CAD 30,000.00 (€ 21,862.78) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of CAD 30,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Smith Ronald - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Back Thru Spring, which sold at auction in May 2012 for CAD 100,250.00 (€ 78,341.60).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2011 führte Sothebys in Toronto die Auktion Important Canadian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Meteor von William Smith Ronald zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von CAD 30.000,00 (€ 21.862,78) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von CAD 30.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Smith Ronald mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Back Thru Spring beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für CAD 100.250,00 (€ 78.341,60) versteigert wurde.
