Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three Untitled Compositions by William Smith Ronald was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 6,600.00 (€ 5,108.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Smith Ronald achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Back Thru Spring in May 2012 with an auction result of CAD 100,250.00 (€ 78,341.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Three Untitled Compositions von William Smith Ronald im November 2012 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CAD 6.600,00 (€ 5.108,02) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Smith Ronald erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Back Thru Spring im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 100.250,00 (€ 78.341,60).
