Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by William Smith Ronald was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 14,400.00 (€ 11,144.78). Admittedly, works by William Smith Ronald have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Back Thru Spring in May 2012 with an auction result of CAD 100,250.00 (€ 78,341.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von William Smith Ronald im November 2012 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CAD 14.400,00 (€ 11.144,78) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Smith Ronald auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Back Thru Spring im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 100.250,00 (€ 78.341,60).
