Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Bewesley Moor with Brimham Craigs in the distance by William Roxby Beverley was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 750.00 (€ 585.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Roxby Beverley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Scarborough from the strand in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 18,302.78).
