signed with initials 'wrb' (lower left)and with inscription 'My Dear Sir I have this day sent off the drawing I promised Mrs Nelson it is a bright sunset in contrast to the storm I call it a 'Misty Sunset Hastings'. I hope it will be liked With best wishes Yours truly WR Beverly' (on a letter from the artist attached to the backboard).

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Misty Sunset, Hastings by William Roxby Beverley was sold in the British Art on Paper auction at Christies in London in November 2006. It achieved a price of GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,237.13), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Roxby Beverley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Scarborough from the strand, which sold at auction in January 2003 for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 18,302.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Misty Sunset, Hastings von William Roxby Beverley wurde im November 2006 in der Auktion British Art on Paper bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 4.200,00 (€ 6.237,13) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Für andere Arbeiten von William Roxby Beverley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Scarborough from the strand beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für GBP 11.950,00 (€ 18.302,78) versteigert wurde.
