A top price for William Purser - as previously expected
In June 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art, which included the work Constantinople, showing the Topkapi and the Suleimaniye with the Sultan's Barge in the foreground by William Purser. The price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,156.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Constantinople, showing the Topkapi and the Suleimaniye with the Sultan's Barge in the foreground is the most expensive artwork by William Purser that we have observed at auctions so far.
