This artwork by William Purser achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Olympia in July 2007. In the British & Continental Pictures including Sporting and Marine Paintings auction, the work View Of Constantinople: Up On The Hills sold for GBP 5,280.00 (€ 7,842.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Purser; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Constantinople, showing the Topkapi and the Suleimaniye with the Sultan's Barge in the foreground sold at auction in June 2012 with the realized price of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,156.28).
