Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Collier unloading, Boscastle Harbour by William Pitt was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2005. The price achieved of GBP 540.00 (€ 783.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Pitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Near Stoke Gabriel on the Dart, Devon; and Cottage at Hooe, near Plymouth in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,762.94).
