The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,864.99), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Pitt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Near Stoke Gabriel on the Dart, Devon; and Cottage at Hooe, near Plymouth in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,762.94).

Die Arbeit On The Tavy, Devon; And On The Thames Above Kew Bridge von William Pitt wurde im Oktober 2012 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.864,99) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Pitt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Near Stoke Gabriel on the Dart, Devon; and Cottage at Hooe, near Plymouth im September 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.225,00 (€ 13.762,94).
