The work Son by William Monk was worth USD 176,400.00 (€ 159,019.20) to a buyer in March last year. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Curated at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Monk; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Far-Out III sold at auction in December last year with the realized price of HKD 2,520,000.00 (€ 301,985.42).
