Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Monk achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in November last year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle auction, the work Atom Rising II sold for HKD 403,200.00 (€ 50,033.83) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Monk have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Far-Out III in December last year with an auction result of HKD 2,520,000.00 (€ 301,985.42).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Monk erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle wurde die Arbeit Atom Rising II für HKD 403.200,00 (€ 50.033,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 150.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Monk auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Far-Out III im Dezember letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.520.000,00 (€ 301.985,42).
