Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (Portrait of Mrs. Chase) by William Merritt Chase for USD 94,500.00 (€ 77,269.01). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait of Mrs. Chase) von William Merritt Chase für USD 94.500,00 (€ 77.269,01) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Merritt Chase erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.649.000,00 (€ 4.273.136,25).
