Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Zattore; and The Scuola di San Marco by William Meadows was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in May 2002. The price achieved of GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,440.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Meadows - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On The Grand Canal, Venice, Before The Fall of The Tower; And Santa Maria Della Salute, Venice, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,030.50).
