Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art, which included the work The Shadow of a Rock by William James Webbe. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 30,955.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William James Webbe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The White Owl. 'Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits' in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 589,250.00 (€ 726,708.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Shadow of a Rock von William James Webbe zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 30.955,95) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William James Webbe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The White Owl. 'Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits' im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 589.250,00 (€ 726.708,90).
