In April 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Attributes of literature by William J. M. Clayton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 840.00 (€ 1,229.87), 20% above the upper estimate. Other works by William J. M. Clayton have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,247.59) in July 2007 for the work Attributes of literature.
