Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Performers by William Holbrook Beard was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,186.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Holbrook Beard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bears Picnic in January this year with an auction result of USD 151,200.00 (€ 139,252.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Performers von William Holbrook Beard im März 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.186,33) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Holbrook Beard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bears Picnic im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 139.252,16).
