In November 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Bear Carousal by William Holbrook Beard. The »bidding war« ended at USD 145,000.00 (€ 98,720.04), 21% above the upper estimate. Other works by William Holbrook Beard have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 151,200.00 (€ 139,252.16) in January this year for the work Bears Picnic.
