Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work The Promenade by William Henry Margetson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,858.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Margetson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Sands in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 111,205.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Promenade von William Henry Margetson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.858,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Henry Margetson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On The Sands im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 97.250,00 (€ 111.205,67).
