A top price for William Henry Margetson - as previously expected
The work On The Sands by William Henry Margetson was sold in the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction at Sothebys in London in May 2011. The price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 111,205.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, On The Sands is the most expensive artwork by William Henry Margetson that we have observed at auctions so far.
