Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'Sun Pictures In Scotland' by William Henry Fox Talbot. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 28,682.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Sun Pictures In Scotland' von William Henry Fox Talbot zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 28.682,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Henry Fox Talbot erzielen.
