In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work A prize bull in a field by William Henry Davis. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,512.98), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Henry Davis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Colonel Newport Charlett's Favourite Greyhounds, at Hanley Court, Worcestershire in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,836.26).

Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A prize bull in a field von William Henry Davis zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.019,00 (€ 7.512,98) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Henry Davis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Colonel Newport Charlett's Favourite Greyhounds, at Hanley Court, Worcestershire im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 56.250,00 (€ 62.836,26).
