Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mr Sam Wiley's Van Dunck, a prize bull in a field by William Henry Davis was sold in the British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings auction at Christies in London in March 2004. The price achieved of GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,577.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Colonel Newport Charlett's Favourite Greyhounds, at Hanley Court, Worcestershire in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,836.26).
