Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Travellers Beside A River Before Castle Ruins At Dusk by William Havell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,547.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Havell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Woodcutters at Park Place, Henley, the River Thames beyond in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 34,429.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Travellers Beside A River Before Castle Ruins At Dusk von William Havell zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.547,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Havell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Woodcutters at Park Place, Henley, the River Thames beyond im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 34.429,49).
