Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Mr Godolphin in the uniform of an Officer of the Honourable East India Company, standing small three-quarter length, the Madras waterfront beyond; and Portrait of Mrs Godolphin, standing small three-quarter length in a garden with hollyhocks, by William Havell was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2015. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,846.56) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Havell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woodcutters at Park Place, Henley, the River Thames beyond in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 34,429.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Mr Godolphin in the uniform of an Officer of the Honourable East India Company, standing small three-quarter length, the Madras waterfront beyond; and Portrait of Mrs Godolphin, standing small three-quarter length in a garden with hollyhocks, von William Havell kam im Oktober 2015 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.846,56) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Havell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woodcutters at Park Place, Henley, the River Thames beyond im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 34.429,49).
