Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Picnic by William Gropper was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,125.00 (€ 1,627.98). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Gropper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Art Auction in March 2012 with an auction result of USD 56,250.00 (€ 42,185.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Picnic von William Gropper im Januar 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.125,00 (€ 1.627,98) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Gropper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Art Auction im März 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 42.185,39).
