Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Four-Sided Dune, Death Valley by William Garnett was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,273.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Garnett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) in June 2010 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,680.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Four-Sided Dune, Death Valley von William Garnett kam im Oktober 2011 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.273,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Garnett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 40.680,17).
