Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Four Sided Dune, Death Valley, California - Sand Dune #2' by William Garnett was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,192.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Garnett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) in June 2010 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,680.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'Four Sided Dune, Death Valley, California - Sand Dune #2' von William Garnett im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.192,85) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Garnett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Plowed Field, Arvin, Calif. (Vertical Aerial 500 Ft.) im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 40.680,17).
