A top price for William Etty - as previously expected
In July 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper, which included the work Venus And Her Satellites by William Etty. The price achieved of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 55,771.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Venus And Her Satellites is the most expensive artwork by William Etty that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Juli 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venus And Her Satellites von William Etty zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 55.771,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Venus And Her Satellites das teuerste Kunstwerk von William Etty, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
