Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work H.M.S. Victory firing a salute in Portsmouth Harbour by William Edward Atkins was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2000. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 552.00 (€ 903.30). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Edward Atkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805: The destruction of the French 74-gun Achille, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,304.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit H.M.S. Victory firing a salute in Portsmouth Harbour von William Edward Atkins kam im Februar 2000 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 552,00 (€ 903,30) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Edward Atkins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805: The destruction of the French 74-gun Achille beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 1.410,00 (€ 2.304,59) versteigert wurde.
