Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2007 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours, which included the work Cambria and Sappho in close quarters off the Isle of Wight by William Edward Atkins. It changed hands for a price of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,156.32) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00. Other works by William Edward Atkins have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2000 the work The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805: The destruction of the French 74-gun Achille was auctioned for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,304.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cambria and Sappho in close quarters off the Isle of Wight von William Edward Atkins zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.156,32) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 500,00 – 800,00. Andere Arbeiten von William Edward Atkins konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im November 2000 die Arbeit The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805: The destruction of the French 74-gun Achille für GBP 1.410,00 (€ 2.304,59) versteigert.
