In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Fishing boats leaving Portsmouth; and Portsmouth, moonlight sold for GBP 940.00 (€ 1,606.73) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Edward Atkins; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805: The destruction of the French 74-gun Achille sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,304.59).
