The »bidding war« ended at GBP 199,250.00 (€ 226,089.03), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Dyce - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Welsh Landscape With Two Women Knitting, which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 541,250.00 (€ 654,411.93).
