This artwork by William Dyce achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2003. In the THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART auction, the work St John leading home his adopted Mother sold for GBP 107,850.00 (€ 157,457.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Dyce have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Welsh Landscape With Two Women Knitting in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 541,250.00 (€ 654,411.93).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Dyce erzielte im Februar 2003 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART wurde die Arbeit St John leading home his adopted Mother für GBP 107.850,00 (€ 157.457,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Dyce auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Welsh Landscape With Two Women Knitting im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 541.250,00 (€ 654.411,93).
