Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life of Black Cock, Wood Pigeon, A Stein, Silver Gilt Claret Jug And Red Grapes, A Gourd, Peaches, Plums, Whitecurrants And Raspberries On A Marble Ledge by William Duffield was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,280.00 (€ 7,825.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Duffield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with peaches, a pomegranate, grapes in a tazza, a pineapple, an orange, plums and pears, amongst roses, poppies and vines on a carved oak chest, draped with a rug, a landscape beyond in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 54,970.00 (€ 78,994.88).
