Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A view of the Isle of Eigg with the Scurr of Eigg in the distance by William Daniell was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,459.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shivala Ghaut and Cheyt Singh's House near Benares in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 485,000.00 (€ 567,043.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A view of the Isle of Eigg with the Scurr of Eigg in the distance von William Daniell im Juli 2014 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.459,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Daniell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shivala Ghaut and Cheyt Singh's House near Benares im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 485.000,00 (€ 567.043,69).
