In the 19th Century American Art auction, the work Locked in the Ice—Waiting it Out sold for USD 189,000.00 (€ 174,065.21) - well above the upper estimate of USD 100,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Bradford have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Midnight Sun, The Arctic in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 1,445,000.00 (€ 1,314,353.28).
