Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Irvine Ranch with Barn; Flowering Fields (a group of two) by William Alexander Griffith was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,275.00 (€ 1,042.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Alexander Griffith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Along the Laguna Coast in August 2020 with an auction result of USD 87,575.00 (€ 73,370.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Irvine Ranch with Barn; Flowering Fields (a group of two) von William Alexander Griffith im Dezember 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.275,00 (€ 1.042,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Alexander Griffith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Along the Laguna Coast im August 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.575,00 (€ 73.370,48).
