Auction result well in line with expectations

In October 2000 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction CALIFORNIA WESTERN&AMERICAN PAINTINGS DRAWINGS&SCULPTURE, which included the work Flowering Landscape by William Alexander Griffith. The price achieved of USD 5,875.00 (€ 6,923.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Alexander Griffith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Along the Laguna Coast in August 2020 with an auction result of USD 87,575.00 (€ 73,370.48).

Im Oktober 2000 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion CALIFORNIA WESTERN&AMERICAN PAINTINGS DRAWINGS&SCULPTURE durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flowering Landscape von William Alexander Griffith zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.875,00 (€ 6.923,17) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Alexander Griffith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Along the Laguna Coast im August 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.575,00 (€ 73.370,48).
