The work Portrait of John, Baron Cutts of Gowran (1661-1707), bust-length, in a brown cloak and lace cravat, feigned sculpted oval by Willem Wissing was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004. It achieved a price of GBP 5,377.50 (€ 8,049.63), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 54%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Wissing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Francis Thynne, Lady Worsley, full-length, in a red dress and a blue ermine-lined mantle, a domed mansion in a garden beyond in September 2011 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 92,066.47).
