The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,767.57), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem Wissing have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Francis Thynne, Lady Worsley, full-length, in a red dress and a blue ermine-lined mantle, a domed mansion in a garden beyond in September 2011 with an auction result of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 92,066.47).
