Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work A coastal scene with a three-master, a kaag on a broad reach and other small vessels, a penschilderij by Willem van de Velde I. It changed hands for a price of GBP 595,800.00 (€ 698,699.04) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Admittedly, works by Willem van de Velde I have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dutch Harbor In A Calm With Small Vessels Inshore And Beached Among Fishermen, A Kaag At Anchor, A States Yacht And Men O'War Offshore: A "Penschilderij" in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,429,000.00 (€ 4,808,680.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A coastal scene with a three-master, a kaag on a broad reach and other small vessels, a penschilderij von Willem van de Velde I zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 595.800,00 (€ 698.699,04) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400.000,00 – 600.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem van de Velde I auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dutch Harbor In A Calm With Small Vessels Inshore And Beached Among Fishermen, A Kaag At Anchor, A States Yacht And Men O'War Offshore: A "Penschilderij" im Januar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.429.000,00 (€ 4.808.680,25).
