In the Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work Admiral De Ruyter Meeting Tromp Aboard For A Council Of War After The Battle Of Lowestoft In 1665 sold for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,850.40) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van de Velde I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch Harbor In A Calm With Small Vessels Inshore And Beached Among Fishermen, A Kaag At Anchor, A States Yacht And Men O'War Offshore: A "Penschilderij" in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,429,000.00 (€ 4,808,680.25).
