Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work A vanitas still life with a broken roemer, an upturned tazza and a peeled lemon, all on a ledge by Willem Claesz. Heda for GBP 189,000.00 (€ 221,641.69). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Claesz. Heda achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A blackberry pie on a pewter platter, a silver-gilded cup and cover, an upturned tazza, a partly-peeled lemon, a bread roll, hazelnuts, a façon-de-Venise glass, a silver decanter, a roemer, and a knife on a pewter platter, on a partly draped table in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,842,500.00 (€ 6,1
