Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Willem Claesz. Heda could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I auction, the work A banquet piece with an overturned tazza and oysters changed hands for USD 2,319,000.00 (€ 1,911,001.24) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem Claesz. Heda - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A blackberry pie on a pewter platter, a silver-gilded cup and cover, an upturned tazza, a partly-peeled lemon, a bread roll, hazelnuts, a façon-de-Venise glass, a silver decanter, a roemer, and a knife on a pewter platter, on a partly draped table, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 4,842,500.00 (€ 6,107,91
