Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A leg of ham, a partly-peeled lemon and slices of bread on pewter platters, a berkemeier, an upturned tankard, a silver-gilt cup and cover, and other vessels on a partly-draped table by Willem Claesz. Heda was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2013. The price achieved of GBP 457,875 (€ 523,202) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been given by the auction house as GBP 400,000 - 600,000. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Claesz. Heda achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A blackberry pie on a pewter platter, a silver-gilded cup and cover, an upturned tazza, a partly-peeled lemon, a bread roll, hazelnuts, a façon-de-Venise glass, a silver decanter, a roemer, and a knife on a pewter platter, on a partly draped table in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,842,500 (€ 6,107,
