Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Variations on a Theme (Splintered Ice No. 2) by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,580.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Glacier (Bone), which sold at auction in November 2016 for GBP 106,250.00 (€ 125,364.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Variations on a Theme (Splintered Ice No. 2) von Wilhelmina Barns-Graham zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 32.580,07) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Wilhelmina Barns-Graham mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Glacier (Bone) beobachtet, die im November 2016 für GBP 106.250,00 (€ 125.364,55) versteigert wurde.
