NOTE: Wen Qiqiu, a native of Shunde, Guangdong Province, who styled himself as Youju, was one of the founders of the Guangdong Chinese Painting Research Association. In the Guangzhou art circle, he was an acknowledged artist in the landscape, flower-and-bird, and figure painting.
Cai Shou, a native of Shunde, Guangdong Province, who styled himself as Hanqiong, was a member of the Conservative of the National Studies. He had a good relationship with the literati in Guangdong as well as the members of the National government and had participated in the examination of the ancient epigraph, calligraphy, and paintings of the Palace Museum.

The work Plantain and Rock by Wen Qiqiu was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2019. It achieved a price of HKD 20,000.00 (€ 2,319.63), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. Admittedly, works by Wen Qiqiu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Various Flowers in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 150,000.00 (€ 14,234.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Plantain and Rock von Wen Qiqiu kam im November 2019 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 20.000,00 (€ 2.319,63) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wen Qiqiu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Various Flowers im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 150.000,00 (€ 14.234,22).
