Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wen Peng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Seven-Character Poem in Cursive Script sold for HKD 350,000.00 (€ 37,682.80) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wen Peng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ode to the Pavilion of the Inebriated Old Man in cursive script in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 5,015,000.00 (€ 557,849.29).
